Happy Halloween - My Hard Drive Crashed, I learned SEO

Well like the title suggests, its Halloween.



I havent dont much on the website or blog lately, basically because my harddrive crashed. I had all the files needed for making money online, my website, everything, on my harddrive...and it crashed.


TOSHIBA SUCKS!!!!

Data recovery costs anywhere from $200 to $500.





The money itself is not the issue, its the principle. It is the ridiculous markup companies put because they know how valuable your data is. My naive opinion is things should cost as much as they actually cost, plus a fair markup so that the economy can keep going. However data recovery companies feel that since the harddrive is such a valuable asset, the information on it must be very valuable, so people are willing to pay just about anything to get it back and are pretty desperate about it. This company actually doesn't overcharge and actually prepares you for a hard drive crash before it happens



Another option, which is what I did do also, is purchase an external hard drive and from now on will be backing up my data weekly. I did some pretty intensive research on the web and the best deal available was at TigerDirect

Luckily, my harddrive was under warranty, so the replacements free, I just have to wait about a week. The annoying part is they won't give me my old harddrive back so I can do the data recovery myself. Again this is simply because they want to charge some ridiculous amount to do it themselves. They only told me they won't give it back after I already gave them the laptop to send out to be fixed. So whatever, point is, always have a warranty, back up your hardrive regularly, and don't trust Toshiba. Its the third harddrive crash in 5 years. You'd think I would learn and back up stuff. But theres nothing like a good lesson in detachment and I've been apart from computers this entire week and still living. Good news is that I do have my handheld portable PC to work from and my blackberry so I guess its not exactly "roughing it".





This happened just as I relaunched my eBay business which needs daily monitoring from a real computer so I think I may lose a few bucks there, no biggie.

What I have been doing with my time is a lot of reading on Search Engine Optimization and its amazing to me what this world includes. There are blogs, and websites, and companies all dedicated to the topic. People compete daily to be the #1 page rank on google for certain keywords and when they lose a spot, they write pages and pages of blogs on why. Its quite fascinating to me and something I could easily see myself getting lost in. To this point I've made the majority of my online money through the eBay or affiliate marketing so I've never really been too concerned with SEO. But now that I have a website, I really want people to visit it and learn all the really great stuff about making money online, so I think I may devote some time to this.

Of course what I've learned is that money can buy you any page rank that you want, but the real challenge is doing it without costing anything, and since my website is built solely around the idea of making money online without costing a dime, then I really want to master getting top billing without paying for it. It will be challenging, I will need to devote hours and hours to it, and in the end it might completely fail simply for the stubborn reason that I'm using Google Pages to host my site. I say stubborn reason because I have a choice of any host, but I am hell bent on doing everything free of cost, and Google has the best option for the cost of nothing. So I'll keep this blog updated on my successes, failures and learnings in the world of Search Engine optimization. If you're not up for the challenge, I think global promoter is the best.

For now I'll be leading people to my new site through this blog, myspace and my eBay business since I know Google isnt putting me anywhere near the top just yet. I've actually learned that the most important aspect of optimization is to be linked from other pages. But I've also learned that buying links on other pages, or trading links could lead to actually hurting your optimization as well, I guess the search engines are smart or something. Still I'm hoping that my content is good enough that people will actually want to link to it from their sites. If you like my stuff, link to it from your blog or website and tell your friends about it. After all, all I'm offering is a free education on making money online.

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this subject. Have you tried it, have you succeeded, failed or are still trying? Any tips for other readers? or even for me?

Actually since all the files from my website were on the old hard drive, I'm gonna have to create it all from scratch again and make it look just like the old. But that actually gives me a chance to improve on some stuff and will keep me busy while my wife studies :).

How to Make Money online without spending a dime

Do you want to know the secret to making money online? Do you want to know the real trick that every website is making you buy something to learn? I don’t think you should have to pay for this. If you sat and thought about it yourself, you’d figure it out. If you just tried it, you’d figure it out. If you actually do it, you’ll see it for yourself. Below are the steps. None of them cost a dime. What I suggest you do is study it, learn it, and then do it. I’ve created the basic outline for you so you don’t have to sit and think about how on earth you are going to get rich. All the tools are out there for you and they are all free to use. Are you ready?

You may have heard this word before but the answer is...Multiple Income Streams..

Before you start the steps, make sure you realize, this is NOT a get rich quick scheme. This is a get rich smart scheme. This will take time and effort on your part, but what it won’t take is money.

Step 1 : Get an internet presence. You can have a website or a blog. Very simple to create these days, use whatever works best for you. Some websites charge a fee for setting up your webpage there, but some are also free. Blogging as you know is completely free. So far, done right, you haven’t spent a dollar.

Step 2: Start writing. About what? Easy..anything at all that interests you. Can be photography, golf, music, whatever. Research some information about it. Make it as original as possible. Cost for your thoughts...nothing.

Step 3: Sign up for a Google Adsense account. Yes its free. Then take the Adsense code that Google gives you and put it on your website. Now when people come to your website to read your opinions, thoughts and ideas, they will see advertisements that relate. Once they are done reading, they might click on some of those advertisements. Everytime they click, you make money. If you have a really interesting website, lots of people will read, and lots of people will click. Just look at a site like CNN, its full of Adsense. So now you have your first stream of income, and its cost you nothing.

Step 4: Sign up for some Affiliate programs that sell items that relate to your interest. If your website is about how much you love golfing, find some businesses that sell golf supplies and in most cases, they will have an affiliate program. That means that when you sign up for their affiliate program, they will give you code to put on your website that advertises the stuff they sell. Put the code on your website to create their ads, people click on the ads, and if they buy the item, you get a percentage of the sale. Sign up for only free affiliate programs, which is the majority, and once again , your cost is nothing. This is your second stream of income.

Step 5: Sign up for an eBay account. Find out what some of the most popular selling items are relating to your interest and find the websites that sell them the cheapest. List those products on eBay for just a few dollars more than they are being sold on the cheapest site. Make sure to sign up for that sites affiliate program too. When somebody buys the item from you on eBay, click on your own affiliate code to buy the item, purchase the item using your credit card, and ship it straight to the buyer. The difference between what you sold it for and what you bought it for is yours to keep. The percentage you get from buying it through your affiliate link is also yours to keep. That’s two additional streams of income for a total of 4. Please note that some websites do not allow you to buy items through your own affiliate link, find that information out first before doing it.

So that’s it. Isn’t that complicated is it? Some people are happy with just one or two of the income streams and that’s just fine, it will take a lot less of your time to do. It’s a matter of math. Each income stream can generate about $100 a day if done right, and much much more if mastered. Think about it, if you work hard enough to make $500 per stream per day, you’d be sitting on $60,000 profit for the month, and it cost you NOTHING to set up. Don’t get too ahead of yourself though, you’ll probably start out making a few dollars per stream and you’ll have to build up your business and once you start earning, you can invest a little into getting the right tools to do it. But as you’re doing it, you will keep learning and keep refining so that you’ve maximized every income stream. The beautiful part is once these processes are set up, there is very little work required from you other than maintenance. So yes the first month or few months will consist of you learning, doing, and learning some more, but do it right and its smooth sailing after that.

Most people are content with working a 40 hour week and earning their living that way. Some people will follow the steps above and succeed, and some will not follow through on go on to something else that they won’t follow through with. But a very select handful of people will succeed with the steps above, and then take the next step towards really making some money. And yes, this step again will cost you nothing to do. This is America. Instead of working hard for your money, why not sit back and let your money work hard for you? I’m talking about investing. With the presence of the internet, you can spend your time learning for free about any topic you desire.

My suggestion is to stop playing around with useless forwards, myspace, facebook, linerider or whatever else it is you do online and start learning about the wonderful world of investing. This is where you put your money to work for you. Learn about stocks, real estate, mutual funds, oil, or anything else that interests you. If there is a company that you really like and feel that they provide excellent service, instead of always buying from them, why not invest in them too? Or if you know nothing about investing, put your money in an index fund and watch it grow. The S&P 500 historically grows between 8% - 15% per year. Learn nothing about the stock market, put your money there, and watch it grow. Guess what, in no time, if you invest the money you made online wisely, you’ll be rich. I’m not going to tell you what to invest in. I am going to tell you to start learning about the world of investing if you really want to build wealth. Fact is most Americans spend more time planning vacations than learning how to invest their money and that is a shame.

Involved in every step of building your wealth, is education. Educate yourself about website design, eBay, Affiliate marketing, advertising and investing. Educate yourself in anything that you are interested in and let it make you money. Stop working like a dog and start thinking like a human. We are on this earth to better ourselves, we can better ourselves through education, and the best kind of education is self learned. So start learning, and get financial freedom!

Updates and Survey!

Below are 4 Exciting new updates about what has been going on recently including the launch of an eBay business, myspace account, blog and new website section.

I wrote about surveys’ and the ability to make money with them yesterday. Today I have a survey of my own for you. Unfortunately this is no the kind that makes money, but it will give me a better idea of what the members want and I will be able to move in that direction so its even more important because in the end, it will dramatically help you in the world of making money online. For the next couple of days I am going to open this Google Group up so that members have the ability to post so you have the choice of directly emailing me back your survey at wikiprofit@gmail.com or you can post your answers for the whole group to read.

#1 – The Wiki Profit Myspace page has been launched and already people are adding themselves every day. Yes in addition I’ve found myspace to be a little irritating as far as the amount of spam friend requests I get and an amazing amount of them are named “Amber” and have the same message. “Amber” sure is lonely I guess, which is quite odd if that is really her picture. But I digress, point is the myspace page is up, the web address below and it’s a great place to get to know one another, learn from each other, and make friends with other people who are also interested in making money online. Just make sure you deny all friend requests from “amber” or whatever her name is today. A quick rule of thumb on myspace is to deny all friend requests from people who’s profile either looks too good to be true or has a link to another “adult” website. Other than that, it’s a great place to keep up with friends, make new ones, and share information, and keep in touch with each other.

#2 – My blog is now active. So far I haven’t put too much on it, but my first article that I wrote was quickly picked up by E-Zine articles website and published which is great news for everyone since it will give the website a little more publicity. Through this blog, I’ll be writing updates on all the new information I learn about making money online. #3 – As you’ve noticed from the past two posts, I’m starting to actually review all the “money making websites”’ out there that are similar to my own. This has been what’s been keeping me mostly busy the past few days. Making a complete website has been a very exciting project. This will result in a new section of my website called “hype or not hype”. Very excited about this and hope that it is very helpful to the readers.


#4 – I’ve reopened my eBay business. This has also been taking up a lot of my time. I ran this business for 5 years and made between $3000 and $10000 profit per month. This time I’ll be selling mostly DVD’s, CD’s, books and video games. Today I completed my first sale, A Sopranos DVD set and made a nice profit. Soon I will be selling the eBooks that I am offering for free to members. It will always be free to members. Once we get up to 100 members in this Group, I’m going to teach this business during the eBay competition that will begin. Whoever wins, can take over my business for me. But first we have to get to 100 members, and we are about halfway there so start telling your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family about it, have them sign up and the quicker we get there, the quicker you can start earning some real money. Do Survey's Really work?

Can you make $100 an hour just taking survey's online? You're a smart person, what do you think? The obvious answer you already should know is absolutely not. If that were true, would I be sitting here telling you about it or would I be staying up all night making sure I make $2400 per day. I give my members credit for knowing better.

Do people actually make money taking survey's online? The answer might not be so obvious this time but it is yes absolutely they do, it's a huge industry and perfect for stay at home parents, people with a little extra time per day, or people who just like making money for sharing their opinion. The truth that nobody is telling you is that the real numbers are quite a bit lower than $100 per hour. That's the truth that no one else is telling you. If you are a member of this group hoping that it really is that easy to make $100 per hour, you're in the wrong place. This is no get rich quick scheme, its simply a tutorial on other ways to make some extra money.

You have to show to them that you are reliable and a good observer. It's also affected by your demographics. Moms are some of the highest sought-after opinions.

3. How much can I expect to get paid? I hate to say "It depends" because that's such a weak answer, but the truth is that it does. The good news is that it mostly depends on you. Your opinions are highly valued by the market research companies. They honestly can't find enough people to survey about their clients' products, so they are willing to pay for your opinion. The key is that they are looking for certain people, of certain ages, with certain interests in certain parts of the world. So you will not be a match for some of the surveys. The way you work this to your benefit is by signing up with several survey companies -- it's a free registration process. The more research companies you sign with, the more surveys you will match for.

4. So can I expect to make even a $1000 a month? Actually, yes, that is a very achievable number. Surveys paying $10 are easy to come by and just doing 3 or 4 of those a day puts you over $1000 per month. Here's the cool part: there is a way that you can at least double that amount if you want to. Keep reading.

5. I've heard that some of the survey companies only register you for drawings. Is that true? Yes. Some market research companies only reward their survey takers with a registration for a drawing for an iPod or an iPhone or an LCD TV, or something like that. But this is actually good news! Here's a little known secret about that: when most survey takers see that they are only going to get entered into a drawing (i.e. no cash), they don't take those surveys! That means that the odds of winning for those who do enter go WAY up! You could enter into drawings every day for prizes that very few people are competing for. I did this anywhere from 30 to 100 times a day and I was well on my way to financial independence. Now I’m making money online using the same method but also implementing website design, adwords, adsense and tons of other great ways of making money online.

I’ve now taken the time to make a website dedicated to teaching people how to make money online. It includes all the tips and tricks I know along with some of the best information available on the web. Take a couple minutes and check it out.
